ANAK ANAK BALI (Bali Kids)
Khusus
Anak Panti Asuhan (A special place for orphans) ADDRESS: Director/General
Manager Bali: PROJECT Bali Kids was founded in April 2005. The project provides a clean, safe environment for orphans requiring special care. The centre is open to any children registered in Bali's orphanages who need basic medical attention or simply time out. Bali Kids is non religious and accepts children from all orphanages on the island. The children's culture and background is always respected. It's Director/General Manager Yayuk Kanti is a dynamic, young Indonesian woman who is a powerful force for change. Alice Matulessy despite a demanding career has also made an outstanding contribution helping the orphans of Bali. HISTORY In 2004 a 6 year old orphan, Toha was found extremely ill in one of Bali's 38 orphanages, cowering in a small room . Toha's body was completely covered in weeping, bleeding sores and scabies. Toha would take a few steps then fall down. Too weak to even stand. The orphanage had no money for medical treatment and no staff to give Toha any special care. Carry For Kids took Toha from hospital to hospital seeking treatment but to no avail. The hospitals were overcrowded and unable to accept any more patients. Finally a clinic was able to help but could not provide a bed. Carry For Kids then took care of Toha for 3 months until he was able to recover and return to Miftahul. There is no question Toha would of died had he not been found. Toha thus inspired Carry For Kids to set up a clinic/orphanage to ensure orphans in Bali did not suffer unnecessarily and would receive immediate care 24 hours a day. Bali Kids provides a mobile medical clinic for Bali's orphanages and also distributes much needed donations sourced through Carry For Kids Inc. The future plan to buy land and build a new centre in 2009, able to accommodate up to 40 children. Offer computer, English, music and dance and other classes plus vocational training. Skills for life, a home and most of all love. The Australian team consists of Kathy Orfanos and Vanessa Lowe who have worked tirelessly as volunteers supporting Carry For Kids Inc. John and Keryn Begg from Melbourne who are passionate about Bali and it's people. Funding and accounting work for the project is based in Australia.
