This wonderful facility located about 17 kms south of Phnom Penh provides food, shelter, education and love for around 130 young Cambodians, roughly two thirds boys and one third girls aged from 16 months to 18 years. The orphanage is funded by the Australia Cambodia Foundation Inc. in Australia but receives support internationally in support of the organizations outstanding work.

Many of the children have lost their parents due to domestic violence, civil fighting, HIV Aids, land mines or lack of medical care. They carry terrible memories from their past but Sunrise offers them the support and love to help them move on in their young lives. On leaving the orphanage at 18 years most of the children obtain good jobs or with the ongoing support of the Australia Cambodia Foundation continue their studies. A Khmer Doctor visits the village once a week providing excellent medical care for the children.

There is a strong emphasis on vocational training. The children study Khmer music and dance, computers, sewing and carpentry. Poor village children and the monks from the nearby pagoda also participate in some of these activities. On Sundays the children are educated to help others through the Community Service Project and are taken out to help poor villagers. They can work in the fields, clean an old person‚s home, look after small children and help the monks to maintain the local pagoda.

Sunrise welcomes visitors however appointments are necessary. A visit to the Village is an uplifting joyful experience and your time and effort to help the children will be so richly rewarded. Visitors are requested to present their passports and complete a compliance agreement on arrival. Copies are taken and kept on file. A Photo ID drivers licence is also accepted. Please contact Carry For Kids or Sunrise Children's Village at least four weeks prior to your departure from Australia to arrange a suitable time to visit. We will require your departure date from Australia, Flight details, contact details in Australia and contact
details in Phnom Penh. If you require local transport please this can be arranged through Destination Asia or Nickolas Sato.
